The reason I wrote it is that I kept seeing strong candidates who obviously prepared extensively for the technical rounds flop on the behavioral rounds. They’d crush the coding and system design questions and then fall apart when I asked them to tell me about the most innovative thing they’d ever done, or about a time they disagreed with their team. They met the tech bar but they ultimately never got offers.
